I talked on the phone the other day with Vick, who runs The Gold Mobility Scooter Company, and how he is dealing with the COVID-19 Virus. The last three weeks have been devastating for his business. Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and all the other theme parks and attractions in the area have closed. This will help to prevent the spread of the Virus. Vick’s business relies on customers renting their equipment. Not being able to rent their equipment means no income. It’s that plain and simple!! 

He shared with me what Gold Mobility Scooter has had to go through because of COVID-19. It cost him over $115,000 to refund the prepaid rentals on over 1000 transactions. In addition, the credit card service fee on previous bookings was 3.5%. Refunding those monies cost him another 3.5% in credit card fees. He didn’t make a dime and took a hit for 7.0%. However, through a bank loan, the addition of personal funds, and employing other internal strategies, he was able to pull it together to keep the business going and financially stable!

Operational Updates 03-23-2020 In Response To COVID-19

The Gold Mobility Scooter Company will briefly close its retail store and customer pickup centers in Kissimmee, Orlando, and the Lake Buena Vista area. We’ll do our part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We have successfully processed more than 1000 refunds and reschedules. Every customer who requested a change or a 100% refund for a prepaid type reservation has received one. No questions asked!

Our telephone reservation agents are on duty and are securely at home. Consequently, they can be reached seven days a week between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM to assist you. Also, we have purchased over $25,000 in parts. In particular, these parts range from battery and seat replacements to repairing or replacing fans and headlights on our ECV’s. We want to make sure that our equipment is at 100% before it goes out the door!
