The legions of once successful firms that have fallen on hard times or gone out of business underscore how hard it is to break out of a rut, especially a comfortable, profitable rut. Ambidextrous organizations encompass two profoundly different types of businessesthose focused on exploiting existing capabilities for profit and those focused on exploring new opportunities for growth.
